Medical Marvels - Answered Prayers

I Peter 1:6-7, “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have
had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith--of
greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may be proved
genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”

We are honored to know Greg R. He is a Christian brother with a faith proven
genuine. He is a member of our church of whom we are proud. And he has made
medical history. Greg contracted ALS, Lou Gehrig’s Disease last year. Bedfast and
paralyzed since January 2, 2008, in early April he received the first ever stem cell
treatment for that disease. He is showing improvement.

Since this letter, Jackie reports that Greg is improving. He now has increased
movement in his left arm and leg, and can straighten his left foot. Last Wednesday,
April 23, his shoulders and neck were strong enough so that he could sit up in a
wheelchair without pillow support. We praise the Lord.

Our prayers continue for Greg.

Make a Difference... In Your Church

Nehemiah led the Jews who returned to their homeland after the Captivity. He organized
them to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem. To the amazement of their enemies, the Jews
completed it in fifty-two days. Nehemiah wrote, “When all our enemies heard about this,
all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized
that this work had been done with the help of our God” (Nehemiah 6:16).

To our amazement, as well, they built the wall with all volunteer labor. God’s work is nearly
always done best by motivated volunteers.

Looking Ahead - Father/Son picnic

Next Women's Study

Do you take God at His Word, believing what He has told us, or do you just believe in His existence and the salvation He offers? Based on Isaiah 43:10, Believing God: Experiencing a Fresh Explosion of Faith explores what it means to believe God. Through studying the lives of Abraham, Moses and others from Hebrews 11, as examples of persons who believed God, Beth Moore encourages women to deepen their own trust in God.

This 10 week study will start May 18, 6:00 pm, at the Bowen's home. Contact Darya to order a member book, which will enhance your study, or simply come if you want to join us for the DVD sessions.

Creation Month Wrap

Our April Creation focus taught us much. Lessons and preaching by our two guest speakers, Ken Henderson & Dr. Glenn Jackson, and by our ministers equipped us to confront our culture with the truth of Genesis and the flaws of evolution. Let us convince others with more confidence than ever.

Special thanks:
• Darya B for promoting the Walk for Life. The Pregnancy Center reported that 261 walkers signed up, plus many who did not register. $31,000 was collected that day, with other pledges yet to come in.
• Rebekah L & the worship/ media team for tailoring our songs to the theme.
• Dave W for organizing the outing to the movie “Expelled.”
• Beth L for securing our video lessons and handouts from Answers In Genesis, and for helping with the Creation Museum tickets.

By the way, additional materials are on the foyer table, including earlier issues of the Answers Magazine and more copies of Ken Ham’s The New Answers Book. Also, check out our Museum trip pictures on the bulletin board.

Monday Bible Study

“Through the New Testament” Monday evening, 7:00 to 8:00 pm, at the church. Everyone is invited! Christianity is a truth based religion. Unlike many religions that are based in myths and man-made stories, our Faith is founded in reality. Its Bible is flawless. Its historical basis is factual. It faces man’s faults unvarnished. It offers a salvation that is the real solution to our spiritual need. People who reject Christ, typically have not investigated our Faith fairly. Give the New Testament a chance and it will convince you of God’s truth. Luke wrote, “Since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you . . . so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught” (Luke 1:3-4). That is why we are studying through the New Testament. Come and be a part of this new and exciting venture!
