Election Day Nears
As Americans we have a privilege and as Christians we have a duty to vote. Our leaders are chosen, not by the wishes of all the American people, but only by the wishes of those people who vote.
Did you know? . . . Of 60 million evangelical Christians in the U.S., 24 million are not even registered to vote. Only 15 million actually voted in 2000, which was a 40% decrease over 1992. Between the 2004 general election and the 2006 midterm election, there was a 30% decrease in Christian voter turnout. Results: of 10 Freshmen in the U.S. Senate only 1 was pro-life, of 54 Freshmen in the U.S. House only 17 were pro-life. By contrast, 92.5% of homosexual men and 91% of lesbian women voted, which explains why their radical agenda gets so much attention and support.
If every evangelical Christian would register and vote, leaders that share our values would easily predominate. And as the Bible says, "When the righteous thrive the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan" (Proverbs 29:2).
